Tri-Parish Ballet is back with "The Nutcracker" after a year's hiatus because of the 2016 flood.

The Livingston Parish-based company will be joined by the Orlando Ballet in dancing Tchaikovsky's ballet at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at Suma Hall Community Center, 28975 S. Satsuma Road, Livingston.

The production will feature more than 80 local dancers. The Orlando Ballet's Cara Berl and Israel Zavaleta will dance the roles of The Sugar Plum Fairy and The Cavalier. Jessie Cochran and Alexa White will dance the role of Maria; Ian Edmonds will dance the role of the Nutcracker, and Scotty Mac will narrate both of the performances.

New this year will be a hip-hop and contemporary dances, along with a new backdrop and costumes.

Admission for the mini performance on Dec. 9 is a nonperishable food item for the Livingston Parish Food Pantry. Admission for the full performance on Dec. 10 is $15.
