The Baton Rouge Music Club will host “Music for a Sunday Afternoon” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, in the Women’s Clubhouse, 930 North Blvd.
Soprano Celest Angelle Veillon and pianist Constance Carroll will perform music by Stephen Sondheim, George Gershwin and other composers.
Veillon, a Baton Rouge Theatre regular, will sing Sondheim's “Into the Woods,” “Follies” and “Evening Primrose.” She’ll finish with “Battle Hymn of the Republic” by Julia Ward Howe and arranged by Jay Althouse. She will be accompanied on piano by Mary Bresowar.
Carroll will perform the Andantino moderato theme from Gershwin’s famous “Rhapsody in Blue” and also “Novelette in Fourths” and “Preludes for Piano.” Carroll and Bresowar will also perform “Scaramouche for Two Pianos” by Darius Milhaud.
The concert is free. Coffee precedes the program at 2:15 p.m.
