FW Gallery is showing the work of Louisiana artist Hooshang Khorasani in the Lamar Atrium at the Shaw Center for the Arts through February.

Khorasani is an internationally exhibited artist with studios in his hometown of Ruston and also in Orange County, California. Since 1984, he has worked as a self-employed artist in America and on the Mediterranean coast in Spain.

Khorasani’s work reflects a bold contemporary style, with hues alternating between muted and highly energized.

About the horses in his work, Khorasani said, "All areas of these paintings are designed to make the horses gallop ahead, trying to escape from the canvas. Every color shows moving energy; each color cooperates with the next to handle this performance of power. I want these horses to run for a while and to let the viewers witness that.”

The Shaw Center, 100 Lafayette St., is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call (225) 769-0582 or visit fwgallery.net.
