Ron English, juror for Baton Rouge Gallery’s "Surreal Salon 10" and LSU School of Art visiting lecturer, will discuss his work at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, at the LSU Museum of Art, for which he designed a large-scale vinyl banner.
The talk is free at the museum in the Shaw Center for the Arts, 100 Lafayette St.
English designed the banner as part of his "Delusionville" project for LSU Museum of Art in conjunction with Baton Rouge Gallery’s Surreal Salon and lecture at the LSU School of Art.
Based in New York, English is a painter, designer and street artist creating images for museums, movies, books, television and music. He coined the term "Popaganda" to describe his mash-up of high and low cultural touchstones, from superhero mythology to totems of art history.
English will give a lecture on his Popaganda style at 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, in the LSU Design Building. For more information, call (225) 389-7200.
