The East Baton Rouge Parish Library System has received the Library Journal’s America’s Star Libraries Award for the fourth consecutive year.

This year, it’s also the state’s only library honored with the Journal’s five-star rating. In the previous three years, EBRPL was awarded the three-stars rating.

Only 85 Library systems, or 1.1 percent across the nation, earned five stars.

The Library Journal’s Index of Public Library Service is the measurement tool for the Star awards. It compares U.S. public libraries with their budgeting peers based on four per capita output measures: circulation, library visits, program attendance and public Internet computer use, a news release said.
