Dr. Lippi Leonpacher — The Flying Vet: 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., Alexandre Mouton House/Lafayette Museum, 1122 Lafayette St. Leslie Leonpacher will talk about her grandfather, Dr. Lippi Leonpacher, a German immigrant who settled in Lafayette. He was one of the first licensed veterinarians in the area and would fly his 1939 model Piper Cub Coupe airplane to reach remote areas in Acadiana to treat his patients. His pioneering methods for treating anthrax in cattle saved the lives of thousands of animals and revolutionized veterinary medicine. The talk is co-sponsored with the museum by the Lafayette Public Library. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. Limited seating. Admission is free. Refreshments will be served.
