The Unlikely Saints tour, a series of three literary events in south Louisiana, opens Tuesday in Baton Rouge.
The tour’s name mimicks a similar tour in November 2011.
South Louisiana publisher Unlikely Books, Lafayette open-mic-and-slam series Lyrically Inclined, and the Festival of Words in Grand Coteau have partnered in this celebration of the literature produced by and available to south Louisiana readers.
Six of the region’s writers will join Larissa Shmailo, New York City; Michael Harold, Shreveport; and Wendy Taylor Carlisle, Eureka Springs, Arkansas, at the events featuring diverse backgrounds, styles, and literary themes.
Tuesday, 7-9 p.m., Elevator Projects, 451 Florida St., Suite 102, Baton Rouge (in the downtown Chase building). Area readers include Xander Bilyk, New Orleans; Alex Johnson, Lafayette; and Dylan Krieger, Baton Rouge.
Thursday, 6-8 p.m., Crescent City Books, 230 Chartres St., New Orleans. Area readers will be Johnson, and Carolyn Hembree and Christopher Shipman, New Orleans.
