First Presbyterian Church Baton Rouge will present two free performances of “Roots & Promises: A Genesis Musical.” Performances are at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, at the church, 763 North Blvd..

The musical was co-written by Gerrit Dawson, senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church, and the production will be in celebration of Dawson’s 10 years of ministry at First Presbyterian.

The musical chronicles the book of Genesis from Creation to Abraham and Sarah, showing audiences their roots and ending with the promise of salvation through Jesus Christ. Local actors Ray Gaspard and Jennifer Ellis play important roles in the production.
