Two priests will be ordained Saturday in the Diocese of Lafayette.

In 10 a.m. ceremonies in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Bishop Michael Jarrell will confer the Sacrament of Holy Orders on the Revs. Travis Abadie and Charles William Massie IV.

Abadie is the son of Jules Abadie and Sharon Morris Hubacher, and is sponsored by St. Elizabeth Seton Parish in Lafayette, where he will celebrate his first Mass at 4:15 p.m. Saturday, June 6.

Massie is the son of Charles William Massie III and Betty Crust Dore. He is sponsored by Cathedral Parish, where he will celebrate his first Mass at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 7.

Abadie has just spent an apostolic year at St. Peter Parish in New Iberia. His first assignment will be as associate pastor of St. Anthony Parish in Eunice.

Massie has just completed fourth theology at Sacred Heart Seminary in Hales Corner, Wisconsin. His first assignment will be as associate pastor of St. Michael Parish in Crowley.

Both assignments are effective July l.

Three recently ordained transitional deacons have received temporary internship assignments until October, when they will return to their seminary studies.

Deacon Alexander Albert has been assigned to St. John Cathedral. Deacon Joel Faulk has been assigned to St. Edmund in Lafayette and Deacon Michael Richard has been assigned to St. Peter in New Iberia.
