Jefferson Baptist Church will present its holiday program, “The Only Christmas Pageant in Town,” Dec. 12-14.

This is the 18th season that the choir, orchestra and cast of over 200 at the church will be entertaining with a Broadway-style show, which is scheduled at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12; 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13 and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14. The church is at 9135 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge.

This year’s show centers on The Little Church in the Vale, which annually presents a Christmas pageant. This year’s blizzard makes it literally “The Only Christmas Pageant in Town.”

Minister of Music Alan Shoumaker said the production is “a funny story filled with memorable characters as well as incredibly orchestrated music and over 150,000 lights on our twin trees that Jefferson Baptist is known for. The production creates an uplifting story and reminds us that Christmas is not found in the flash and glitter of modern day, but in the true gift of that holy night so long ago.”

The Parade of Wooden Soldiers, dancing ballerina bears, magnificent costumes and special effects (including snow during every performance) combine to make this one of the biggest celebrations of the season.
