The Salvation Army of Greater Baton Rouge is taking applications for its Angel Tree Giving Program, which provides gifts of new clothing and toys to children in the greater Baton Rouge area who otherwise would receive little or nothing for Christmas.
Families can apply for Christmas assistance in October at the corps center, 7361 Airline Highway, Baton Rouge. Call (225) 355-4483
Last year, the Angel Tree Program provided more than 29,000 gifts of new clothing and toys to 4,023 children in the greater Baton Rouge area.
The Salvation Army partners with individuals and corporations who are willing to adopt families and children at Christmastime. These partnerships allow The Salvation Army to help more families, and the corporations that partner are able to point to the significant community investment with a nonprofit.
The group also assists families and senior citizens at Christmas with food baskets.
