Hoyt and Moffett Strain and Teri and Gordon 'Skeet' LeBlanc, from left, attend the Aug. 13 rededication of the Lews Family Memorial Chapel of the Good Shepherd at the Episcopal School of Baton Rouge. The Right Rev. Morris K. Thompson Jr., bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana, joined Episcopal Senior Chaplain Kirkland 'Skully' Knight in leading board members, donors, families and friends in celebrating the event, which marked the culmination of the 'spirit' phase of Episcopal’s capital campaign focusing on the spirit, mind and body. The $1.2 million renovation included the addition of a covered walkway connecting the chapel to the school, new restrooms and office space for religious staff. Cathedral lighting, acoustical sound improvements, expanded seating, state-of-the art audio visual equipment, new flooring and updates to the classroom and altar space were also made. The ceremony also marked the installment of the new stained-glass window of St. Francis of Assisi dedicated in honor of the Rev. Ralph R. Howe Jr., who served as Episcopal School chaplain from 2004 to 2014. The chapel opened in 1974.
