We received several news releases in conjunction with the 400th anniversary of The King James Version of the Bible. The most interesting so far has been from the Bodleian Libraries of Oxford University in England. The libraries have launched their first app for Apple and Android devices. “The Making of the King James Bible” is available for purchase at http://apps.toura.com/bodleian-library-at-oxford/the-making-of-the-king-james-bible.

A related exhibit - Manifold Greatness: Oxford and the Making of the King James Bible -will travel to the United States in September. It will be at the Harry Ransom Centre at the University of Texas, Austin, from Feb. 28 to June 3, as well as other sites. Information on the exhibit is at http://www.manifoldgreatness.org/.

The KJV app has more than 60 items from the exhibition, including books and documents behind the King James Bible translation.

The libraries plan to add more apps showcasing their collections. The next will be a browsable collection with a Jane Austen manuscript, the Magna Carta, Shakespeare’s First Folio and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.
