Serves 6. Smoothies take two minutes to make in the blender and they’re easy to transport, making them an ideal school-day breakfast. Feel free to substitute the berries of your choice.

1 cup fresh strawberries

1 cup fresh blueberries

1 ripe banana (optional)

2 tbls. whey protein powder

1/4 cup honey (you can substitute sugar or Splenda or omit entirely depending on preference)

1 to 2 tsps. vanilla

2 cups nonfat milk

1 cup low-fat or nonfat plain or vanilla yogurt

2 to 3 cups ice cubes

1. In a blender or juicer, combine the berries, banana, protein powder and honey.

2. Pulse while adding one of the cups of milk and pulse until mixture comes together.

3. Add the vanilla, yogurt, remaining milk and ice.

4. Continue to pulse until the mixture has become thick and blended.
