The State is in the old Louie’s Café at 209 W. State St. The new pub will feature food from chef Luis Macedo, who previously worked at Pinetta’s. The menu will be grilled cheese-based and primarily feature small plates.
However, no food will be served Saturday, Courrege said. A menu is still being finalized, and food service will start within the next two weeks.
After this weekend’s debut, The State will open at 7 p.m., starting Monday. In two weeks, the restaurant and bar will then open for lunch at 11 a.m.
The State has room for about 60 patrons. Courrege said. An extensive remodeling job was done to the building, including new flooring and new paint job.
