Serves 8 to 10.
4 slices bacon, uncooked
1 green pepper, chopped
1 yellow onion, chopped
1/4 cup green onions, chopped
1/2 cup celery, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tbl. butter
1 lb. lean ground meat
1/2 cup mesquite barbecue sauce
2 (28-oz.) cans Bush’s Original baked beans
1. Saut? bacon, green peppers, yellow onions, green onions, celery, garlic, salt and pepper in butter in a deep skillet on medium high heat until vegetables are thoroughly softened and bacon is cooked.
2. Add ground meat to mixture and cook, stirring often, until meat is browned. Add barbecue sauce and mix thoroughly.
3. In a separate pot, warm baked beans over medium heat. Add saut?ed vegetables and meat mixture to beans and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking to bottom.
4. Remove from heat and serve straight from the pot, cowboy style OR transfer to a medium serving bowl.
