A gas grill is indispensable when it comes to preparing quick, easy but tasty and nutritious family dinners.

I use mine several times a week, year-round, for grilling chicken, lean pork, fish and vegetables. We mix up the sides - the kids always prefer pasta - and throw together a salad and we usually have a well-balanced dinner in under an hour.

There are countless grilling rubs and marinades on supermarket shelves, many of which are quite good, and even more recipes that are fun to play with and customize to your family’s liking.

This particular recipe for kabobs is good - and quick. Prep time is about 10 minutes and cook time is only 20 minutes or so.

If you’re really pressed for time and don’t feel like skewering the meat and veggies, grill them separately - the veggies in a grill basket - then serve them together over quinoa or couscous for a great summer dinner!
