Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich


Who doesn't love a great sandwich?

This recipe for a Philly cheesesteak sandwich is a favorite in my house, and I'm sure will soon be one in yours.

It's outrageously delicious and unbelievable easy with only five ingredients piled on a bun of your choice. (I love a Hawaiian Bread bun.)

I have to thank one of my favorite New Orleans restaurateurs, Dickie Brennan, for this recipe idea. Years ago, he told me about mixing roast beef and brown gravy mix together for a smothered roast beef recipe. He said he enjoys whipping up this easy dinner when extra family pops over.

Well Done: Recipe for Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich

Start with shaved roast beef from the deli counter — what could be easier? — add savory gravy and sauteed onions and bell peppers, pile it on a bun and top with melted provolone and you've got a super simple sandwich that tastes gourmet. You can even double or triple the recipe.

  • To keep the beef and gravy warm, serve it in a slow cooker.
