FOOD ADDICTS GROUP

  • WHAT: Food Addicts Anony-mous, a 12-step free support group to provide fellowship for men and women willing to re-cover from the disease of food addiction.

Food Addicts Anonymous is an organization that believes food addiction is a biochemical disorder that occurs at a cellular level and cannot be cured by willpower or by therapy alone. FAA is self-supporting. There are no dues or fees required for membership. FAA is not affiliated with any diet or weight-loss programs, treatment facilities or religious organizations.

EPILEPSY GROUP

  • WHAT: Epilepsy support group meeting

WHEN: 7-8 P.M. THURSDAY, JUNE 4

  • WHERE: NeuroMedical Hospital, 10101 Park Rowe Ave., 6th floor, Baton Rouge.
  • DETAILS: The group is open to adults with epilepsy/seizure disorders, their family members, friends, caregivers and anyone who would like to share their experiences and support those who are managing seizures. Parents of children with epilepsy are also encouraged to attend. Adult topics can come up during meetings that may be inappropriate for young children. Parental discretion is advised.

FITNESS CRAWL

Washington St., offers HIV testing from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays and syphilis testing from 2-4 p.m. on Wednesdays; Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, 4000 Gus Young Ave., offers testing from 9 a.m. to noon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays and from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Fridays; Delmont Service Center, 3535 Riley St., offers testing from 2-4 p.m. every third Wednesday; and EKL Mid-City, North Foster at Gus Young Avenue, offers testing from 9-11 a.m. and 4-7 p.m. on Tuesdays.
