Are you ready to get in shape?
Take the Y up on its Community Shape Up Challenge. Last year more than 400 people did. Now it’s time to sign up for this year’s challenge, which the YMCA of the Capital Area is offering at all eight of its locations in the area. The program is free, and you do not have to be a Y member to participate.
Each location will be hosting two four-week sessions. The first series of sessions begins Sept. 10 and continues until Oct. 1. The second series runs from Oct. 14 to Nov. 5.
The challenge is open to everyone 18 and older. Each session will be limited to 25 participants per location. Registration is on a first-come basis.
The program, which is in its third year, will offer classes and seminars twice a week to help educate and motivate participants to lead a healthier lifestyle.
Each participant will also receive 10 free visits to the Y during the challenge. Prizes will also be awarded for attendance and for reaching personal goals.
Registration is now in progress at the Y. Participants should bring the application to the location where they wish to participate. Each participant is allowed to take part in one session. Once registered, participants will have an initial weigh-in and measurements of BMI, height, resting heart rate and blood pressure.
