WHAT: 20th Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure
WHEN: Saturday, March 5. Activities start at 7 a.m. with Survivors Breakfast; 8 a.m. Survivor Parade and Celebration; 8:45 a.m. 10K; 8:50 a.m. 1-mile Fun Run; 9:15 a.m. 5K for timed runners; 9:20 a.m. 5K for untimed runners; 10:30 a.m. celebration with awards and live music.
WHERE: LSU Old Front Nine, Nicholson Drive at Nicholson Drive Extension, Baton Rouge
DETAILS: Event includes booths with health information, jambalaya village and competition. Race and other Komen events support Community Health Grants, which provide such services as mammograms, clinical breast exams, breast diagnostic services, transportation assistance, prescriptions assistance, support group services and breast cancer education and breast self-awareness materials for healthcare providers and the community.

WHAT: Fill a Prescription for the Needy campaign
WHEN: Through Thursday, March 24
WHERE: 200 bins are set up at more than 100 locations, including Albertson’s Winn Dixie, Fred’s Pharmacy and Rite Aid
DETAILS: The campaign by WBRZ News 2 is to raise money for Baton Rouge’s St. Vincent de Paul Community Pharmacy. Also, the Baton Rouge Clinic will host lunches on Monday, Feb. 29, and Monday, March 14, to raise money for the campaign. These $8 lunches include jambalaya, salad, bread and dessert.
