How did rosaries get that name?

Because they were originally made of rose petal beads, which release the fragrance of roses when held by warm hands.

At the March 26 meeting of the Herb Society of America-Baton Rouge Unit, members and visitors will learn how to make rose petals into beads, and will make beads to take home in this hands-on program.

The complete directions for the process will also be given to participants.

The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Ione Burden Conference Center at the Burden Center, 4560 Essen Lane, Baton Rouge. Visitors and guests are welcome to the program, which costs $5. It’s free for members.

Herb plants for spring planting will be available for sale before and after the meeting.
