In two presentations on Thursday, Oct. 19, the East Baton Rouge Master Gardener Association will tackle home citrus and blueberry production as well as pest control.

The programs start at 6:30 p.m. at the East Baton Rouge Parish Bluebonnet Regional Branch Library, 9200 Bluebonnet Blvd. The programs are free and open to the public. Registration is not required.

The “Blueberries and Citrus” presentation covers the basics of growing these popular fruits. The talk includes information on soil and weather requirements for successfully growing blueberries, satsumas, oranges, lemons, limes and kumquats in the home garden.

The second presentation reviews common pests in the home garden and offers strategies for combating them, including companion planting and other cultural practices.

All presentations are delivered by Louisiana Master Gardeners who have completed the LSU AgCenter comprehensive education program. For more information on the East Baton Rouge Master Gardener library series or the association’s other outreach activities, visit ebrmg.com.
