The East Baton Rouge Master Gardeners are presenting two programs on Nov. 12 at the East Baton Rouge Parish Main Library, 7711 Goodwood Blvd., Baton Rouge.

From 6:30-8:30 p.m., the free educational presentations on “Pet Friendly Garden” and “Preparing your Garden for the Cool Season” will be held.

“The pet friendly gardens program will teach how to create a garden that welcomes pets while remaining a lovely place to enjoy,” said Donna Montgomery, the group’s publicity chairwoman. “Learn what plants are poisonous to dogs and cats and discover safe plants that ‘can take it.’ You’ll get tips for discouraging destructive pet behavior, too.”

Preparing your garden for the cool season will answer questions about what happens in the garden after summer, what should get winterized and what gets removed, she said.
