These homes in and around St. Francisville are being featured on the Friends of the West Feliciana Parish Library’s annual Christmas in the Country Tour of Homes on Dec. 6. Proceeds benefit the library. On this year’s tour are the homes of:
- Jerry and Ouida West — The two-bedroom home was built for retirement and is handicap accessible. It has old pine floors and beams, cypress cabinetry, brick walls and an open floor plan.
- Kenneth and Gwen “Gigi” Carter — Built in 1999 on 13 masonry piers, some of which are several feet above the ground, the interior features a great room with 25-foot ceilings and a master bedroom suite that takes up the entire second floor.
- Bobby and Jane Daniel — Called Jacko, the home was built in 1967 by Jane Daniel’s parents on their inherited portion of Solitude Plantation, which was established by their ancestors under a Spanish land grant. The Colonial Revival brick house has a long gallery across the front and was updated by the Daniels beginning in 2005.
- Belton and Dare Didier — Construction began on the home in 2010 on 80 acres south of St. Francisville and was recently completed.
