Le Krewe Mystique de la Capitale took its members and guests on "A Mystique Odyssey" for its 41st Mardi Gras Ball on Feb. 11 at the Belle of Baton Rouge's Capital Atrium. Reigning over the festivities were King Chadwick Kenney-Possa and Queen Rowan Edaire Baird, daughter of Rhonda and William Baird.

The tableau opened with the last promenade to the music of "Grease" for Mystique's 2016 court — King Mystique XL John Delgado; Queen Mystique XL Donalyn Marie Norris, ball Captain Tonilyn Robillard Guidry and returning debutantes Megan Alford, Madeline Reese Bourgeois, Angelle Crochet, Nicole Crochet, Rayne Daniel, Madison Dawson, Katherine Germany, Madison Lee, Amelia Gayle Marchand and Campbell Wall.

Ball Captain Andrew J. McGee then entered, followed by the krewe lieutenants performing to the theme from "2001: A Space Odyssey." Lieutenants were Dave Basu, Rick Bourgeois, Gary Gitner, Mike Henry, Jim Kaiser, Peter Kelle, Rudy Landry, Marylyn Marsh, Gordon Nelson, Enrique Osuna, Henry Pere, Dennis Pereira, Carolyn and Tony Pittman, Tim Porch and Bill Ragsdale.

The king and queen were accompanied by pages Aubrey Sue Fabre, daughter of Amber and David Fabre; Taegan Delane and Kolbee Addison Kenney, daughters of Stacia Mulvihill and Mitch Kenney; and Cecilia Grace LaBorde, daughter of Bridget and Paul LaBorde.

Master of ceremonies Chris Nakamoto, of WBRZ, introduced the krewe's 2017 debutantes: Juliet Irene Alise, daughter of Ruth and Mark Alise; Rachel Lin Barnett, daughter of Lisa and Leon Barnett; Katie Jin Liu Cameron, daughter of Patti and Bob Cameron; Jordyn Taylor Courville, daughter of Angela and Toby Courville; Meghan Drago, daughter of Johnette and Michael Drago; Adeline Elle Holyfield, daughter of Angelle Kendall Wilson and Myles Holyfield; Caroline Elise LeBlanc, daughter of Shelly and Scott LeBlanc; Analisa LeBlanc-Taylor, daughter of Nancy Taylor and Michael LeBlanc; Blaise Alayna Putnam, daughter of Brandi and Brett Putnam; and Megan Carol Wortmann, daughter of Rebecca and Al Wortmann.

The tableau concluded with the introduction of parade Grand Marshal Brittany Weiss, who will lead the downtown parade at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18. Escort lieutenants were Guy Blanchard, Tommy Davis, David Huet and David Jumper.

Pat Hartdegan and Jodi Acosta designed the costumes of the king, ball captain and pages, and McGee and Carolyn Pittman did the ball and table decorations. Kris Cangelosi did the choreography for the tableau and its theme. The Boogie All-Stars provided dance music.
