There was a "flocking" last night in Baton Rouge.

As they are wont to do this time of year, a flock of wooden flamingos showed up in City Park Lake overnight, just in time to treat morning commuters to a festive sight. Of course, they didn't last long. Flamingo lovers are known to brave the chilly waters to retrieve the pink prizes.

"Flocking" the lake is a tradition of the Krewe of Spanish Town Mardi Gras Parade. The flamingo serves as the parade mascot.

This year's parade starts at noon, Saturday, Feb. 10.
