The whittling away of “American Idol” Season 14 hopefuls moves to LA’s House of Blues Sunset tonight for the first of two “Showcase Week” episodes.

Among the 48 young singers still hoping to make the top 24 of the Fox reality competition series are Baton Rouge singer-songwriter Rachael Hallack; Quentin Alexander and Anjelika Joseph, both of New Orleans; and West Monroe native Ricky Dale Hendricks.

Tonight, the contestants perform one more song, and then some of them will learn their fate. The rest perform on Thursday night’s episode. After that, the judges will reveal the remaining contestants rounding out the top 24.

“American Idol” airs at 7 p.m. tonight and Thursday night on WGMB, Channel 44 (cable Channel 6).
