'Gators? 'Out da Bayou's' got 'em. The John Jackson-hosted show debuts on Discovery in Jaunary.

The weekly, 30-minute lifestyle TV show "Out Da’ Bayou" puts in at Discovery Channel (cable Channel 46) at 7:30 a.m. Saturdays starting Jan. 6.

The locally-produced series centers on Louisiana’s food, outdoor adventure and tourism. Each show is theme-based and focuses on different aspects of food gathering Louisiana style, a news release says.

John Jackson is the producer, writer, host, and editor of the show. Robin Vucinovich is operations manager.

The show started out on local networks in and around the area and moved to The Sportsman Channel in its third season.

"We are not an outdoor show per se. We simply tell the stories of those people who never get the recognition we believe they deserve,” Jackson says in a news release. "Most of those stories revolve in some way around our rich culture of living off the water and cooking creative cuisine that only Louisiana-born know how to flavor."

The show will stay true to its roots, Jackson says.

"We will continue to do what has been our one goal from inception, reaching the world with a true taste of real families and generations who still carve a life from out the bayous of Louisiana.”
