Baton Rouge will have a chance to see a potential Oscar contender early and for free in January.

The Louisiana International Film Society will screen “The Revenant” on Wednesday, Jan. 6 at Cinemark Perkins Rowe. The screening starts at 7:30 p.m. Reserve your seat.

Due to overwhelming demand, seating will be limited so you’ll want to reserve your spot as soon as possible.

“The Revenant” stars Leonardo DiCaprio as the explorer Hugh Glass. After being brutally attacked by a bear then left for dead, Glass endures and tries to survive unimaginable conditions.

Already the film has been nominated for 5 Golden Globes, including Best Picture (Drama), Best Actor (DiCaprio), and Best Director (Alejandro González Iñárritu). The film also stars Tom Hardy, who plays Glass’ confidant John Fitzgerald. The film is rated R due to graphic violence and some language.

This will be the first screening of 2016 for the film society. Last year, the society screened such films as “A Walk in the Woods,” starring Robert Redford and Nick Nolte, and the critically-acclaimed “Brooklyn.”
