Baton Rouge’s Jay Ducote will compete for the title of “Food Network Star” in the show’s finale Aug. 16.

Ducote was one of three finalists chosen on Sunday night’s episode to make their own cooking show pilot. The pilots will be judged by a team of Food Network personalities and executives and the winner, who typically gets his own show on the network, will be announced at the close of next week’s show.

Ducote, who has focused on his Louisiana roots throughhout the competition, cooked crawfish etouffee over fried catfish as his showcase dish Sunday night, again getting praise from the judges.
