’American Sniper’ holds top spot at weekend box office _lowres

Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper took off during the holiday weekend smashing January records as it reeled in $90 million in box office receipts in three days.

The previous record had been James Cameron’s Avatar, which tallied $68 million during the same time period in 2010.
