Louisiana Public Broadcasting and Baton Rouge TV station WBRZ each came home with a Suncoast Emmy Dec. 5.

The awards ceremoney took place in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ Suncoast region includes Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia and Puerto Rico.

The Emmy to LPB was awarded in the Interstitial category for a story on the 25th anniversary of the movie “Steel Magnolias,” shot mostly in Natchitoches. Charlie Whinham produced the segment, and the photographer/editor was Rex Q. Fortenberry.

Chris Sasser, WBRZ chief photographer, was honored for outstanding videography on a “Louisiana Legacy” story with anchor/reporter Kylie Dixon profiling the life of crawfish farmers.
