A special preview of Ken Burns’ new documentary, “Jackie Robinson,” will start at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the EBR Main Library, 7711 Goodwood Blvd. in Baton Rouge.
In 1947, the color line in baseball was broken when Jackie Robinson was brought up from the minor leagues to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers.
The Louisiana Public Broadcasting-hosted event will also include LPB’s Charlie Whinham and panelists former LSU baseball coach Skip Bertman and Southern University coach Roger Cador discussing what effect Robinson’s career had on the sport.
There will also be refreshments, and door prizes, including autographed baseballs and DVDs. This event is free but seating is limited.
For information or to RSVP, emailJackie42@lpb.org or call (225) 767-4276.
“Jackie Robinson” airs on PBS in April.
