Winterfest 2015 continues this weekend and next week on Louisiana Public Broadcasting.
The special programming, highlighted with music and comedy, is the backdrop for the network’s pledge drive, which helps pay for programs seen throughout the year.
“My Music Presents The Carpenters: Close To You,” at 7 p.m. Saturday, traces the career of The Carpenters and includes some of the duo’s hit songs. It’s followed by “Josh Groban: Stages Live” at 8:30 p.m.
“Three Tenors Christmas” airs at 8 p.m. Sunday, with traditional and classical holiday songs.
A new LPB production, the second edition of “Louisiana Travels with Charlie Whinham” premieres at 7 p.m. Monday. Whinham takes viewers on a photography field trip of the Atchafalaya Basin with photographer C.C. Lockwood. Also, go on safari at Global Wildlife Center in Robert, and visit the Eddie G. Robinson Museum in Grambling.
“Il Volo: Buon Natale” follows at 8 p.m., with the young Italian trio performing “Let It Snow,” “Silent Night” and more great holiday favorites.
“Celtic Woman: Destiny,” a new concert from the Irish group starts at 7 p.m. Tuesday. In addition to the music, viewers can find out how to get tickets to its 2016 Louisiana concert.
Take a look back at Louisiana musical performances from LPB productions over the last 40 years as LPB presents “LPB’s Musical Roots: A Look Back” at 7 p.m. Thursday.
At 9 p.m. Friday, “A Tribute to Toussaint” honors the late, great legend Allen Toussaint. The show features Dr. John, Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews, Irma Thomas, Deacon John, and others, plus Toussaint himself.
