College rock gods Built to Spill will land in the Capital City this summer.
The Idaho band will perform at the Varsity Theatre on Thursday, June 9. Doors open at 7 p.m. with music beginning at 8 p.m. Openers have not been announced. Tickets are $22 in advance and $25 at the door. Advance tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at ticketweb.com.
Built to Spill is touring behind its eighth studio album, “Untethered Moon,” which was released to typical critical acclaim in April 2015. The 10-track effort features spiny guitar licks alongside frontman Doug Marstch’s wordy passages. In an instant, the band can go from zero to 60, propelling songs to this classic rock territory.
The band first popped up on the radar in 1993 with its debut “Ultimate Alternative Wavers,” but is perhaps most known for its 1994-1999 trio of albums which includes “There’s Nothing Wrong With Love,” “Perfect from Now On,” and “Keep It Like a Secret.”
