Some know him as half of the rap duo Clipse, a group that set charts on fire with songs like “Grindin’ ” and “Mr. Me Too.” Others know him as King Push.
Most know him as Pusha T, the rapper behind some of the more compelling albums of the past three years.
If you haven’t heard him, it’s time to do some digging as the rapper will come to Baton Rouge next spring.
Pusha T will perform at the Varsity on March 15 as part of his Darkest Before Dawn Tour. Doors open at 8 p.m. The show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets start at $32.50. VIP tickets are also available.
The rapper had a great 2015. After being named president of GOOD Music, the record label founded by Kanye West, Pusha T finally released his sophomore album, “King Push — Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude.”
Debuting at number four on the Billboard 200, “King Push” features 10 tracks of cold (how cold?), ice cold rap. Featuring guest spots from West, Beanie Sigel and The-Dream, the album has garnered critical acclaim.
For what it’s worth, “King Push” is easily my favorite rap album of the year. This will be one show you won’t want to miss.
