The Tipitina’s Music Office Co-Op Baton Rouge will present a workshop series, “Making Business of Your Band,” on Tuesday, and July 14 and 28.

The workshops and one-on-one follow-up sessions are designed to help musicians and filmmakers learn how to establish a sustaining business. They’ll take place at the co-op office, 2600 Government St. The workshops are also being offered at Tipitina’s Music Office Co-Ops in New Orleans, Lafayette, Alexandria, Shreveport and Monroe.

Workshop topics include copyright fundamentals, tax credit opportunities and small business accounting tools. Development of business plans for music-based businesses and marketing plans will also be covered.

Participation in the program is free for co-op members, $150 for non-members and $100 for SEBD-certified participants. Registration for the series can be made by calling (225) 389-0133.

Billy O’Connell, a Loyola University music industry studies program faculty member who’s worked with Warner Bros. Records, MTV, The Ramones, The Replacements and Talking Heads, will lead the sessions.
