Country stars will come together for a big concert this weekend.
Red Stick Together starts at 1 p.m. Sunday in front of the Baton Rouge River Center. The free outdoor concert will take place on a built stage. The goal is to provide a little flood relief for thousands of people in south Louisiana who need a day to just get away from it.
The list of performers includes Lonestar, Wayne Toups, Mark Chesnutt, Tracy Byrd, LeRoux, John Schneider, Mickey Gilley, Aaron Tippin, John Conlee, Marty Raybon, Jamie O'Neal, Ralph Innes, Sheriff Bud Torres, Clifton Brown, Jim and James Hogg, Allison Collins and Jo-El Sonnier.
The concert will include a tribute to the Cajun Navy about 4 p.m., with Schneider performing a song he co-wrote with Scott Innes, an award-winning radio personality and the former voice of Scooby-Doo.
Innes and Colbi Rosenthal produced the event. In a news release, Innes thanked several people who have worked to make Red Stick Together a great event.
"What's amazing about south Louisiana is even when you have lost everything, people come together as one and help each other," Innes said in the release. "In most cases, a gumbo gets cooked and a party goes down. That's just what we are going to do."
