Minos the Saint is just a few weeks away from releasing its studio debut.
The local chamber folk band will release “Awake and Dream” on Feb. 27. On that same day, the band will celebrate with an album release show at the Varsity Theatre in Baton Rouge.
Doors open at 8 p.m. Cover is $10. Fellow Baton Rougeans and folk rockers The Humble Kind will open the show.
The studio debut is a long time coming for Minos the Saint. Last year, the band successfully funded a Kickstarter campaign, raising more than $10,000 to record and release its debut.
“Awake and Dream” features 12 tracks, including the new live staple “New Interrogation” and fan favorite “4:00 a.m.”
The band recorded the album with Justin Spence at PreSonus studios. John Fischback, of Esplanade Studios in New Orleans, mastered the album. Fischback has worked with legendary artists such as Stevie Wonder and Carole King.
Since last year, the band expanded its lineup to include trombonist Jessica Ottaviano and French horn player Arisia Gilmore, who appear on the album with upright bass player Dave Hinson, trombonist Nick Garrison and trumpeter David Melancon.
