Pals, presidential welcome, perennial prof
Catholic High was the place to be on the night of Feb. 24 as students from CHS and St. Joseph’s Academy teamed up with the Big Buddy Program for the 25th annual Big Buddy Burger Bash.
The aroma of grilling burgers filled the lunch room as Little Buddies, students and supporters turned out for the celebratory evening.
Entertaining diners were 4 Him, the Winter Dance Studio and Little Buddies from Children’s Charter and St. Francis Xavier Catholic schools. Mistress of ceremonies was Alayna Davis with the Level Up! Program.
Red Stick welcome
The night before, I attended a lovely reception at the Louisiana Culinary School welcoming Our Lady of the Lake College’s new president, Tina Holland, to town. It was hosted by the college alumni association. Since Holland is from these parts, the night’s menu included a line-up of Louisiana culinary delights kicked up a notch by the culinary students. She is the fourth president of the college, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
The evening’s agenda also included a tour of the school and a series of cooking classes hosted by the school’s instructors.
We have to give a shout out to composer/teacher Dinos Constantinides on the celebration of his 50 years of teaching at the LSU School of Music, where he is the oldest faculty member ever. He was fêted at a reception hosted by LSU Feb. 25.
The well-respected Constantinides continues to maintain a full studio at LSU and is very active in presenting his music and the music of his students nationally and internationally.
