Nurses, where would we be without them? I'm sure you don't want to know.

And the Baton Rouge District Nurses Association celebrated those hard-working professionals at its 28th annual Celebrate Nursing Banquet on May 1 at Bourdreaux's.

Edna Hull, Southern University associate professor of nursing, received the Helen Johnson Cremeens Award for Excellence in Teaching. The award was presented by LaTonya Dorsey. Dominique Anderson, a student in the doctor of nursing practice, family nurse practitioner program at the LSU Health Sciences Center, received the Edith Lobue Memorial Scholarship, presented by association Past President Clara Earl.

In addition, 23 area nurses were honored for their clinical, educational and professional practices in a variety of health care settings.
