“She Ain’t Heavy, She’s My Mother” is the title of actor and author Brian Batt’s memoire of his mother’s battle with cancer so, it was fitting that he was guest of honor at an Oct. 23 reception for Baton Rouge General donors. You see, the festivities included tours of the General’s Pennington Cancer Center located in the Bluebonnet campus’s new Medical Office Building.

Hosted by the Baton Rouge General Foundation, the event was held in conjunction with the hospital’s annual cancer awareness event, “Life’s a Canvas.”

Among those visiting with the former “Mad Men” cast member were Paula Pennington de la Bretonne and husband Jack, Margaret Hart, Nancy and Dr. Flip Roberts, Janice Pellar, Joe Juban, Connie Caldwell, foundation Executive Director Beth Veazey and hospital CEO Mark Slytar.
