Christmas came a bit early this year for the Old State Capitol docents and for several staff members of the YMCA of the Capital Area.

Old State Capitol docents

Old State Capitol Associate Chet Coles did a bit of Santa role playing recently and purchased 15 “courtroom chairs” at a state auction on behalf of the associates to provide much-needed seating for visitors to the Old State Capitol. They were unveiled at the Docent Appreciation Luncheon on Dec. 3.

The holiday-themed celebration also honored 20 docents who assisted the Old State Capitol by volunteering a total of 745 hours to serve as guides, host events and give historical tours to visitors during 2012. They included Mae Belton, Bernard Berry, Bill Campbell, Harriet Coco, Bobby Comeaux, Wayne Davis, Hazel DeLoach, Norma Gerace, Carol Haase, Lillian Holliday, Guy Jenkins, Jackie Kreutzer, MaryBeth Matthews, Eileen Mechana, Betty and Harvey Schwartzberg, Rebecca Stringer, Susan Vincent, Lilly Willis and Edna Wilson.
