In 2016, Volunteers of America Greater Baton Rouge served almost 13,000 clients throughout its 19-parish area. The VOA staff and leadership played a huge role in making that happen. They were all together recently at the organization's annual meeting and reception, which included the presentation of several awards.

Thanked by CEO Janet Pace and immediate past board Chairwoman Georgia Ford for their leadership were outgoing board members Jason Brown, Mary Pesses and Rodney Greenup Jr. Board member Gail O’Quin and husband, Bill,were recognized for raising the most money at the VOA's "Celebration for Change" event May 9. Honored for bringing in the most new donors was board member Elizabeth Rojas. Board member LaDonna Green was presented the award for Best “Feel Good” Event Attendance.

Tapped as board officers were Chairman Todd Schexnayder, Vice Chairman Chris Webb, Secretary Sherry McBeath and Treasurer Brent Garrett. Newly elected to the board were Melissa Bezet, CJ Cummings, Ted Firnberg, Alejandra "Alex" Juan, Lauren Michaud Knotts and Tatiana Patel. They join current board members Stephen Feazell, the Rev. Bernadine Johnson, Johnny Masey, Derek Mathews, Kenneth Miles, Camm Morton, Drew Sellers, Ed Soliman, Green and Rojas.
