Forty-four teams from ExxonMobil's Baton Rouge sites squared off the morning of Oct. 27 for best pot of jambalaya bragging rights at the plant's 28th annual Capital Area United Way Jambalaya Cookoff, closing out the company's 2017 fundraising campaign.
Tasked with sampling all of the entries and picking a winner were celebrity judges Kevin Anderson, Bin 77; Chelsea Gidden, Bistro Byronz; Paul Mladenka, Cou-Yon's Bar-B-Q; Wally Taillon, Gonzales Jambalaya Festival; Galen Iverstine, Iverstine Farms; Kevin Diez, Chef KD Louisiana Legends; Charles Dupuis, Tony's Seafood; Johnny Ahysen and Graham Ulkins, WAFB-TV; Adam Budden and Jared Murphy, Walk-On's Bistreaux & Bar; and Michael Vinsanau and Brittany Weiss, WBRZ-TV.
First place went to the team of Brandon Walock, Lonnie D'Antoni, Chuck Vigie and Chris Germany. They will represent ExxonMobil at Capital Area United Way's 2018 Jambalaya Cookoff.
Coming in second was the team of Richard Kilpatrick, Gerry Blouin, Marcus Clark and Mike Nguyen; third place went to teammates Lindsay Malik, Mandy Wisnieski, Becky Breaux and Ron Aime; and winning People's Choice was the team of Ieisha Thomas, Tamara Roybiskie and Chandra Stacie.
