The Arthritis Association debuted a new fundraiser June 26 that involved decorating gloves. Considering the amount of rain that had fallen that day and several days leading up to the party, decorating rain boots might have been a better idea.
‘Take the Gloves Off’
Boudreaux’s was the setting for the auction of the decorated gloves, which came in all lengths. Some were bejeweled, some sported feathers and others were painted or sequined. It’s too bad Mardi Gras is so far away because a lot of the creations were ball perfect.
After the models walked the runway to show off the gloves, one winner was chosen — Lisa Togh. Her “Man, I Feel Like a Woman” gloves were modeled by Alexandra Napoli. Judges for the glove-designing competition were Rachael Cannon-Lewis, Rigsby Fredrick, Ashlee Villeneuve and Tracy Donovan Smith.
Mayor Kip Holden and Terri Serio served as emcees for the night. The mayor even brought along a proclamation.
The festivities also included a tempting silent auction.
Committee members included Laura Balogne, Andrea LeBlanc Breaux, Jeannene Kogler, Napoli, Julie Sherrill and Carol Waszkowski.
