The first Saturday in May means one thing — it’s time for the annual Kentucky Derby!

There are two celebrations benefiting very worthy causes planned here in the Capital City — one benefiting BREC’s Farr Park Equestrian Center and another benefiting GaitWay Therapeutic Horsemanship.

The BREC Derby Day event gets underway at 3 p.m. at Farr Park, 6402 River Road. For tickets and information, log on to brec.org/derbyday.

The GaitWay celebration begins at 4 p.m. at GaitWay Farms in St. Gabriel. For tickets and more information on this event, visit gaitway.org.

So, don your best chapeau and get ready to sip some mint juleps. The 142nd Run for the Roses is upon us!
