Marsha Mandella, from left, her daughter, Misty Mandella, both of Independence; Marsha’s cousin, Dawn Cantrell King and her husband, Dan King, of Baton Rouge, visit Alaska’s Denali National Park and Preserve in June. Behind Marsha’s head is the peak of Mt. Denali (formerly Mt. McKinley), seldom seen from the park due to clouds. The group’s land and sea vacation, celebrating Misty’s graduation from Southeastern Louisiana University, began in Seattle, and also took them to Fairbanks (Chena Hot Springs, The Aurora Ice Museum, gold mining), Anchorage, Seward (where they boarded Royal Caribbean’s Radiance of the Seas), Hubbard Glacier, Juneau (Mendenhall Glacier), Skagway (Tongass National Forest), Hoonah and Ketchikan, and returning via Canada.
