Instructors with Baton Rouge-based Roco Rescue, which provides rescue training, equipment and services, spent Thursday doing confined space and industrial rescue techniques training for 29 plant workers on the MPC Fire Rescue team from Marathon Petroleum Company's Louisiana Refining Division, located in Garyville. The training, which MPC Fire Chief Corey May said included personnel ranging from maintenance workers to engineers, was conducted at the Roco Training Center on Merle Gustafson Drive, near Metro Airport. In 2013, Roco Rescue was awarded the OSHA VPP Star, OSHA’s official recognition of the outstanding efforts of employers and employees achieving exemplary occupational safety and health; it's also a Department of Defense contractor, serving the U.S. military.
